Favorite Authors

I would love to recommend some more of my favorite authors very popular novels. This is because I want oter high school students to be able to enjoy the writing as well. I recommend all Sarah Dessen books to all girls interested in romance and feel good stories. I recommend all Nicholas Sparks books because of the sappy romance and the warm feelin one experiences while reading one of his heart throb novels. I would also recommend all the Harry Potyer books and the Hunger Games books because they are long books filled with suspense an action.

Setting

The beach town of Colby is a perfect setting for The Moon and More because it strongly shows how simple and happy everyone in the town is when Emaline is miserable. Emaline just wants to show all of the tourists that the town is nothing special and is in fact holding people back. The good part of the town is it teaches Emaline how being positive and making the best out of life and every little precious moment can help her out in life. So this modern beach location resculptures Emaline's perspective into something along the lines of grateful. The mood of the novel changes for the better and Emaline is able to make her own decisions.

Movies and Books

I am happy to say I have started the notebook and read about a third of it before bed last night. I loved the movie yet the book is so much more intriguing. I am usually one to enjoy the movie more than the book. I believe the movie did portray Nicholas Sparks' novel in a very close matter and so far I have not cried while reading the book just yet.

New Book

I have decided to read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. This book has drawn my interest to it because of the wonderful movie and how all of my friends coo and drool over this lovestory. I have a weak spot for adorable love stories. Whenever I can get ahold of a book that I enjoy, I can finish it within a few days. Therefore I will Probably have this book finished by Monday. My next novel will take me into the next trimester and I'm pretty sure it will be another Nicholas Sparks book like The Lucky One.

Recommendation

I would recommend any of Sarah Dessen's novels. They are all based around a main character which is usually a girl and the settings are in this adorable little beach town. The plots can become insanely complicated or really simple with one major conflict. Romance is also present is most of the stories making each one perfect for any teenage girl. Sarah Dessen also explores all types of personalities and interests for her characters. So you can easily find a relatable character.

Some of my favorite Dessen books are Along for the Ride, The Moon and More, keeping The Moon,
Lock and Key, and Someone Like You. I would recommend these to anyone that likes a simple yet interesting and fun book that any teenage girl can relate to and understand.

Summary

The theme of The Moon and More is always follow  your dreams and do what makes you happy. Emaline finally learned to deal with her problems and move on towards her future. This made me happy because she began to work towards what she wanted to achieve in life. The ending of the story made me frustrated because all of Emaline's problems. She became so sad and was always worried about what made her father happy. So when she demonstrated the theme of the book I became more satisfied.

Round Character

While reading The Moon and More, I watch Emaline's senior year go by without her really experiencing a lot of high school. I also have the privilege of watching Melamine try to balance her past, future, and families’ burdens. Emaline has struck me as a round character because her personality and outlook on many things matures.
"Another satisfied customer, I thought, as I walked back to my car. This was why I'd been working pretty much whenever I could lately. I needed distractions, problems I could easily solve. Wild cats were never ideal, but now, I'd gladly take them." -Emaline
While Emaline's summer is coming to an end, all she really is worried about is her boyfriend Luke. The sad thing is that she is becoming bored with him. Although Luke fits the description of a perfect boyfriend, Emaline begins to grow curious about the new boy Theo. Theo is a little different and draws Emaline with his art and tattoos. It seems to be Emaline is only worried about doing good things to others and worrying about herself and her future. I love how Emaline begins to branch out and each time she tries new things, she wants more. Emaline ends up with resenting her mother and step family only to become more proud of herself. When the plot advances, Emaline grows more confident and happy. This makes me happy because I can clearly see her change in attitude therefore giving her confidence to stand up for herself.

Updated Reading

While I continue to read my novel, The Moon and More the book continues to draw me in. As Emaline becomes more revealed, I love her even more. I can easily relate to her boy issues very closely. Also I am predicting her decision between Luke and Theo, where Emaline will choose neither of the boys and go to the college she has always dreamed of. The story continues to make me question her best friend due to the fact she treats Emaline very poorly. Emaline doesn't really react to this she only seems to let her walk all over her. This frustrates me because i used to have a friend like that, until I took control over the situation. I am looking forward to seeing Emaline's confidence grow.

Casting Emaline

If I were to cast my main character, Emaline, I would choose Lily Collins. One reasoon I believe Lily Collins would be perfect for Emaline is physical appearance. The long brown hair, deep and calming hazel eyes, and thicker eyebrows fit Emaline's description perfectly. Lily could also potray Emalines confused and kind personality perfectly. Collins could show the audience how Emaline struggles with her father, her boyfriend, and chosing her life path. I would totally see the movie if Lily Collins was casted as Emaline. Then her costars could be really attractive guys, then the movie would just be 100 times better than it already was. I would advise producers not to change much from the book because so far the story is fresh and interesting.

Setting of The Moon and More

The setting of my novel takes place in the small town of Colby. Emaline is so far enjoying her surroundings. The people are all very friendly and the beautiful scenery sometimes upset the main character because Emaline wants to leave. This leads into the conflict of the story which is Emaline begins to wonder what else is out there for her. Emaline wants to go explore the world and travel while she still has the chance. Also there is her boyfriend, she begins to wonder if she can get something better. So Emaline begins to have inner conflict and society conflict when deciding what she wants to do in her last year of high school before her life really begins. Emaline could decide to go see her father, or go to a college she really wants too. Therefore I will embark on this journey with Emaline and making her big decision in life.

Meeting Emaline

My main character in The Moon and More is named Emaline. Emaline lives in the small beach town of Colby and works at her family owned business of renting out beach homes. I would love it if I could get a chance to meet Emaline because I can relate to her in certain ways. Also I would love to listen to her talk about her family issues.
Things like this intrigue me because my family have never had issues except for this one time. I also believe Emaline and I could become close friends due to the fact that we both enjoy the beach, shopping, and are interested in school. While I continue reading this novel I would hope that Emaline and I will easialy relate because relating to a main character helps me understand the book much better.

College

While looking for an article to write I came across '10 College Majors You'll Regret'. This article caught my attention because I know where I want to go for college and what I am interested in studying so I wondered, will I regret a very important decision? I know that I'm not interested in being an engineer even though the most money comes from their jobs. So I investigeted this article to find out that the majors proved to be most successful, are in fields that seem to be growing in demand today. Such as all engineering fields, geology, and technology. Now in my opinion these jobs would take quite alot of work and wouldn't keep me entertained all day long. My interest is in business, and marketing. When I discovered neither of these fields were present on the extremely bad or extremely good list, I let out a breath. I know I have a few more years left, yet knowing this will influence my decision in four years. I plan to do much more research and visiting to colleges before I have to figure out my life choice. Right now, grades, friends,  and dance are all that's on my mind. This Article relates to The Moon and More because of Emaline's major decision In college. Emaline is let down when she can't afford to attend the college of her liking so she rethinks her whole perspective on college. Luckily Emaline he's accepted into a better college And pursues a new career/major to benefit her future.

Lake Erie

While working on Mr. Jackson's assignment in class I was missing the lake. Writing is one of my favorite things to do, especially when i have something special, fun , or important to write about. I was recently adding more conflict and suspense to my narritive about my lake house. I just started to smile at all of my favorite memories. Some with my friends who traveled there with me or with my cousins who traveled from afar just to see us. I miss my aunts and uncles and cousins. I want to taste Aunt Elsa's homemade rye bread toasted warm with melted butter resting upon the brown fluffy crust while I pull my bare legs to my chest sitting on the old plastic chairs. Feeling the morning breeze on my tanned face watchiong the early morning fisherman enjoy the calm blue waters. So while I am writing my narrative and this post, I smile. I smile because I am lucky enough to have wonderful relationships and memories at some place that I keep so close to my heart. While at the lake things get pretty fun and crazy, yet sometimes a good book on the beach can be excellent. This summer I enjoyed Keeping The Moon by Sarah Dessen, my favorite author. A story of a girl who traveled to her grandma's lake house and discovering friendship and love along the way.  The main character enjoys her summer as much as I did at her lake so it was easy to relate. This books is probably considered a chick book but I would recomend it to my friends because I love Sarah Dessen. She really expresses the importance of friendship and sticking up for eachother. So please enjoy!

The Moon and More

Sarah Dessen never fails to impress me. Once I pick up one of her teen novels, I can never put down the book. One reason why I love Dessen's books is because they are so relateable. When i mean relatable I mean that most of her books are based off of relationships. The relationships in her books are what ever girl dreams of because you just read about them and want to be in the story. In The Moon and More Emaline has this boyfriend Luke who is just the whole package. But while working at her job in the small town of Colby, she begins to wonder what else is out there for her.

I feel sympathy for Emaline because she has a very hard life at home with her dad not being around and a stressful relationship with her step family. While reading this book I want to cry and laugh and get excited. That's why I love Sarah dessen books and I hope one day I can write just like her.
